Workplace Safety Health – Safety Course Overview for WSQ Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health SDWSH qualification

 

The WSQ Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health (SDWSH) qualification is designed for individuals who are keen to join the Workplace Safety and Health profession as WSH Officers. Ie to work as a registered workplace safety health officer in Singapore you must attend the Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and health SDWSH not the NEBOSH diploma or other NEBOSH courses.

 

The Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health SDWSH is a recognized qualification for registration as a WSH Officer under the Workplace Safety and Health Act.

 

Who Should Attend the Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health SDWSH

This course is relevant to those who would like to attain the Specialist Diploma in WSH, which is part of the certification requirement under the WSH Act, in order to be a WSH Officer.

 

Pre-requisites of the Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health SDWSH

Trainee is to fulfill one of the tracks to be eligible for the course:

Track 1 Recognized Technology/ Science–related Diploma/ Engineering Degree

And At least 2 years of WSH relevant working experience

 

Track 2:

Possess Employability Skills Workplace Literacy Level 6 or GCE ‘O’ Level English Grade C6

GCE ‘O’ Level Math & Science Grade C6, or bridging course

Possess GCE ‘O’ Level Science (Physics) grade C6, or Certification of Performance Physics bridging course

Possess WSH Skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Advanced Certificate in WSH

Have at least 2 years of post-WSH qualification working experience as WSH Supervisor, WSH Coordinator or similar occupation role

 

Track 3:

Possess Employability Skills Workplace Literacy Level 6 or GCE ‘O’ Level English Grade C6

GCE ‘O’ Level Math & Science Grade C6, or bridging course

Possess GCE ‘O’ Level Science (Physics) grade C6, or Certification of Performance Physics bridging course

Possess WSH Skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Advanced Certificate in WSH

Have at least 5 years of WSH-related working experience , in which 2 years should be recent working experience such as WSH Supervisor/Coordinator

Participants may also be required to undergo a pre-qualifying test.

 

Applications without ALL the above required supporting documents will be considered incomplete and rejected.

Trainees are required to complete 13 compulsory core modules and 3 elective modules.

Choose one elective module from Group 1 (Industry electives)

Note: Learner must successfully complete 12 compulsory core units and 3 elective units first – before they are allowed to take the last compulsory core unit “Develop a WSH Management System”.

Upon successful completion of the Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health SDWSH course, participants will receive a transcript and their Certificate in WSH.

 

WSQ Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health

Qualification Objectives

The WSQ Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health provides individuals with basic competencies as well as a head start in WSH as a WSH representative.

Total Training Hours: 128 hrs

To achieve a full qualification in WSQ Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health, you must complete 6 competency modules: 5 Core PLUS any 1 Elective.

Completed ES WSH or equivalent; and/or

Hold a WSH related appointment

Qualification Objectives

The Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health provides individuals with key competencies in WSH to become a WSH coordinator. Trainees will learn the skills to coordinate the implementation of WSH management systems at the supervisory level and gain an intermediate understanding of the relevant WSH regulations

 

Total Training Hours: 184–194 hrs

To achieve a full qualification in WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health, you must complete 10 competency modules: 8 Core units PLUS 2 Electives

Possess WSH skills and knowledge equivalent of that of Certificatee WSH; and

Have at least 1 year of WSH relevant working experience

WSQ Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health

Qualification Objectives

Specialist Diploma in WSH – The Specialist Diploma in WSH is one of the courses recognised under the Workplace Safety and Health Act for registration as a WSH Officer with the Ministry of Manpower. Candidates will be trained to conduct safety inspections, recommend control measures, monitor, and improve WSH performance, and apply WSH engineering principles to WSH risk management.

 

Total Training Hours: 324–344 hrs

To achieve a full qualification in WSQ Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health, you must complete 16 competency modules: 13 Core units PLUS 3 Electives.
