Workplace Safety
Updated: Sep 24, 2022
Its interesting that when people in Singapore say or think about Workplace Safety, they link it to the Ministry of Manpower. Sure the Ministry of Manpower has a part to play in Workplace Safety, but we need to also look at the Workplace Safety Health Council or the WSH Council
What or who is the Workplace Safety Health Council?
First of all Workplace Safety Health Council is not in conducting courses or training.
But rather the Workplace Safety Health Council WSH Council is a statutory body under the Ministry of Manpower that is supported by Tripartite Alliance Limited. The Workplace Safety Health Council WSH Council works closely with the industry, unions, professionals, trade associations and other government agencies to raise Workplace Safety WSH standards in Singapore.
The Workplace Safety Health Council's (WSH Council) main functions include:
Building industry capabilities to better manage Workplace Safety Health WSH (e.g. Resources, Programmes);
Promoting Workplace Safety and Health at work, and recognising companies with good Workplace Safety Health WSH records (e.g. Campaigns and Awards and Competitions);
and
Implementing acceptable Workplace Safety Health WSH practices to uphold Industry Standards (e.g. Codes of Practice, WSH Guidelines)
The Vision and Mission of the Workplace Safety Health Council WSH Council is
Vision: Healthy Workforce, Safe Workplace.
Mission: To build a healthy workforce and safe workplace by engaging communities to enhance capabilities and embrace best practices
What is Workplace Safety Health Councils (WSH Council) Vision Zero
Workplace Safety Health Council (WSH Council) believes that every company should embrace Vision Zero, the mindset that every accident is preventable. It is a mindset shift from fault-finding to one that focuses on finding solutions to prevent injuries and ill health. This can be achieved with the commitment of every stakeholder – employers, workers, unions and the government.
Workplace Safety Health 2028 (WSH 2028)
The Workplace Safety Health Council (WSH Council) supports the 2028 Tripartite Strategies Committee's strategies and recommendations to bring the workplace fatality rate below 1.0 per 100,000 workers by 2028.
